How It’s Done

Lisa’s main certifications are in two yoga perspectives, Embodyoga and Forrest Yoga. She uses traditional vinyasa flow and isometric techniques of these traditions to cultivate strength, alignment and fluid movement. The emphasis on your breath helps you focus and learn to balance your work and uncover the ease of practice, the integration of the mind and body.

Lisa is also certified in Adaptive Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Pranayama and Meditation. She uses principles from these perspectives in Yin and breath and meditation sessions, and weaves breathwork and meditation throughout the vinyasa and alignment classes she leads.  Her work with Adaptive Yoga has allowed her to bring yoga to people who have disabilities such as cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, paraplegia and quadriplegia, and for those in pre and post surgical situations as well as Seniors.

How do you do this?  Through:

  • Learning to develop a relationship with your breath, and ways to use the breath to open parts of your body that feel disconnected
  • Learn to harness your breath and connection with your body in a way that translates to finding calm in the difficulties of life
  • To cultivate a physical strength that is integrated rather than just using the same body parts mechanically and habitually
  • To start at the beginning (wherever that is for YOU) and create a foundation for your practice that will help you build and grow, and to create a stamina for being able to continue to start over and recreate
  • To develop patience with yourself and your body over time
